Wheel cut glass lid, with applied mouth blown ball handle.
It is a beautiful piece. 7" wide base. 1 1/4" deep in the middle of the inside of lid. The ball handle is 2 1/2'' tall. I believe it to be cut because some of the edges show wheel like marks. fairly heavy piece.
That is likely the lid to a Dorothy Thorpe Azalea dish with covered center well (or another type of covered dish). It is sand-etched (her earlier flowers were, later pieces were acid-etched) and would be not be marked since only the bottom item would carry the DTC.

The cuts are deep and I see a few marks that I have seen with wheel cuts. Have you seen a lid like this? The bulbous handle is quite different. KatBehr
If you follow the link you'll see an nearly identical lid near the bottom of the page under "Rose" with a big bulbous clear knob.
Also, your lid does not at all appear to me to be wheel cut in any areas. I see no parts of it that look any different from normal sand etching, which can be quite deep and normally have crisp edges for definition. Wheel cuts are rarely if ever so wavy at the edges of shapes, and do not feature gradations of degree of etch: they are either etched or not, and when polished are generally smooth throughout.
Add to that the fact that your flowers appear to be identical matches to Thorpe's Azalea pattern and I'm 99% certain that is what you have (without actually seeing it person). FYI, Thorpe pieces use the same basic flower look across different shapes, but each is subtly adjusted for each individual dish type so that they are rarely the identical flower, but all go together cohesively within a flower group.
